Remember when MTV still had decent programming? Their ‘Diary…’ series is one I completely forgot existed until I stumbled across this 2003 episode featuring the late Brittany Murphy. Brittany was always one of my favourite actors; so quirky and genuine and without the fame agenda it seems so many starlets in Hollywood have these days. (I mean the forced quirky whoops-I-accidentally-fell-while-picking-up-my-oscar kind of agenda, one that Brittany would never have to feign.) She managed to be loveable and innocent and real. Watching a humble 25 year old Brittany at the height of her fame – bouncing around on Mountain Dew while promoting the movie ‘Uptown Girls’ – is morose and nostalgic and adorable at the same time. It’s a shame she’s not still around today. Have a gander and nod in approval at the awesome selection of music used in the programme too!

(Skip to 01.52 for the start, or watch the end of MTV news from 2003 for even more nostalgia)

(Also… lol at this video promotion for now irrelevant boyband Blue)
